Paul Harrand is to stand down as Chairman of Scarborough Cricket Club on the 31st October 2021
The Board thanks Paul for his hard work during a particularly challenging period for the Club. We are pleased that Paul has offered to remain on the Board until the end of 2022.
His successor will be Mr Kevin Grace who as a long association with the Club. Kevin said “I am delighted to be able to work with the wonderful people who have done so much for SCC and I hope I can help them continue to care for it in the same way. Paul has been a great role model and I would like to personally thank him for the last 6 years especially and look forward to his continued support in the coming year.
Statement From Paul Harrand ;
There is no doubt that the last 18 months have been the most challenging in the Club’s history. The Global pandemic has hit the club hard in terms of disruption to the Cricket Schedules (both Club and County). As a result, Income from staging Cricket under Covid -19 restrictions has suffered greatly.
However, there is plenty to look forward to in 2022. A promise of the Roses match, the continuing works to redevelop sections of the ground thanks to the generous support of the Scarborough Borough Council Town bid funding, and with sympathetic scheduling of matches at North Marine rd by the ECB the Club will ‘bounce back’ in 2022.
I will have completed almost 6 years as Chairman of this wonderful Cricket Club. During my time I have been honoured to serve and to meet so many supportive people, not least the Board and the staff at the Club who have been outstanding, particularly over the past 18 months. I thank each and every one of you for your advice and commitment to Scarborough Cricket Club during my time. I have agreed to stay on the main board until the end of season 2022 to support and ensure a smooth and orderly transition.
Finally, once again my thanks to Scarborough Cricket Club members and staff. To everyone at Yorkshire County Cricket Club. To the Board Members and Presidents who have supported the Club during my time.
