It is with great sadness that the Club learned of the passing of Richard Sherwood.
Richard played for Scarborough Cricket Club during arguably the Clubs most successful era between 1976 and 1981. He was a member of the squad that reached two John Haig trophy finals in 1976 and 1981.
Richard also played for Yorkshire 2nd XI in 1976 against Warwickshire at North Marine Road. Richard made 37 in the first innings in a game which the Yorkshire side beat the opposition inside two days.
Richard remained a familiar face at North Marine Road as a spectator over many years, he will be sadly missed.
The Club’s thoughts and condolences go to Richard’s wife Sarah, and his two children Laura and Oliver.
The funeral will take place at 1:00pm, on Friday 24th September at All Saints Church, Huntington, York. Followed by a reception at Heworth Cricket Club.
