The first ever ‘Wear Purple for Saint Catherine’s Day’ will be taking place at Scarborough Cricket Club on Friday 28th August 2026 as Yorkshire take on Leicestershire in the Rothesay County Championship.

The aim is to create a sea of purple in the crowd and across the pitch, with supporters encouraged to wear purple, have fun and help raise much-needed funds for patient care at Saint Catherine’s.

Pete Beard, Fundraiser at Saint Catherine's, said:

“We are thrilled to be working with Scarborough Cricket Club on this collaboration, bringing together a fantastic day of sporting action and the chance to raise funds and awareness at the same time.

“The Saint Catherine’s team will be there on the day with a range of purple merchandise available to buy. We also encourage cricket fans to dig out their own purple clothing, hats and even wigs to embrace the theme and make it a day to remember.”

Daniel Gregory, Operations Manager at Scarborough Cricket Club, said:

"We're proud to be teaming up with Saint Catherine's to raise funds for such a worthy cause.

"Almost everyone in the area knows someone who has benefited from the services Saint Catherine's provides, so we're hoping this new initiative will raise plenty of money and grow year-on-year, much like the Wear Red day for the Ruth Strauss Foundation has. We'd encourage anyone attending to dig out something purple and donate as generously as they're able to on the day."
